Argentine Black & White Tegu
Tupinambis merianae

One of the first tegus species to be introduced into the U.S., these lizards are a true classic. These beauties generally range from 3.5-4.5’ in length. They usually have a higher concentration of black patterning broken up with white markings. True U.S. captive bred Argentine Black & White Tegus have been harder and harder to find in more recent years with many breeders focusing on the larger Chacoan Whitehead Tegus. They are one of the lesser expensive tegus which makes it a great animal to own and work with.
